Why this is awesome: Abbot's Habit in Venice, California. During my last trip to L.A., I stopped into this coffeeshop in Venice Beach. The gentleman on the left was sitting and drawing a very detailed pencil drawing in his sketchpad. I remember how he smiled and laughed to himself a lot.
I had local newsweeklies in front of me, but I was really just people watching the entire time. In Venice, people watching is better than scripted TV.
** I learned recently (Dec 2020) that Abbot's Habit closed in 2017, four years after I wrote this blog post. You can learn more about its impact on the community and a little history on the local area it inhabited for 24 years right here in this online issue of The Argonaut. How apropos.
