The feature story of the winter issue of Destination Newark was a congratulatory retrospective on the history, ingenuity and accomplishments of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. The entire issue had a focus on the arts and culture scene in Brick City, thanks to the new Arts & Economic Prosperity 5 study shining a light on the $178.3 million generated by the nonprofit arts and culture industry in Newark.
So it was both an honor and a pleasure to pen the cover story for this very important issue. More research than interviewing, I set about writing this piece in … well, pieces. The managing editor had a very specific concept she wanted to build, and I did my best to follow her direction as close as possible. The result: My first cover story in a print publication!
