

Why this is awesome: Indianapolis is only 1 of 2 US cities whose state name appears in their capital city moniker. (The other is Oklahoma City.) When you live in Indy, you sometimes forget that the seat of state government is mere blocks away from your favorite sports bar or boutique. Perhaps that's why the lighting on this wonderful piece of architecture took me by a surprise one chilly January evening.
Political leanings aside, I couldn't deny the sense of pride I felt to see such a monumental structure standing gloriously as it basked in the light. Politics is more divisive these days than ever. Yet, I think most who would wander the halls of this Renaissance Revival Style statehouse, couldn't help but respect and appreciate the skill and passion that built them.
